The National Society of Cardiology of N.Macedonia and the University Cardiology Clinic in Skopje, marked the World Heart Day on September 29, with an event that brought together experts from the field of cardiology, healthcare professionals from various specialties, researchers, and patients who shared personal experiences. The goal of the event was to promote cardiovascular health and remind the population of the importance of prevention. The event took place on September 30, 2024, at the University Cardiology Clinic.
This year, the focus was on community engagement and collaborative efforts in addressing heart diseases globally. The topic was discussed by renowned and eminent cardiologists, as well as public health activists, who talked about the latest significant research in cardiology, prevention strategies, and the impact of lifestyle changes on heart health.
The event was opened by the director of the Cardiology Clinic, Prim. Bekim Pocesta, MD, and the closing presentation was delivered by the president of the National Society of Cardiology of N.Macedonia, Prof. Jorgo Kostov, MD, who also answered questions from the attending journalists. The discussion included participants who shared their views on effective educational programs and innovative health initiatives aimed at reducing the rate of heart diseases.
The aim of the event was to emphasize the importance of early detection of cardiovascular diseases, while also raising public awareness of the need to implement healthy lifestyle habits to prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases, which remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality
